Volunteer at Hunger Centers The Hunger Network hunger centers operate mostly during the day during the week. The volunteers who operate hunger centers are mostly retired and are specially trained and must make a long-term regular commitment to a hunger center. Hot meal programs operate in the early evening the last several days of the month and rely on groups to assist the program volunteers to donate bread products, desserts, and to serve and clean-up. All programs welcome work groups to assist in activities; other centers need to be painted, or have areas that need repairs.
